FASIM (German Bel)
Germán Bel / Fasim (1972, Barcelona, Spain)
A pioneer urban artist in Spain, in 1986 he met Henry Chalfant in Barcelona, a revealing encounter that marked the style and conception of urban art in the young Fasim, leading to the development of different styles practically unknown on the peninsula, including the ‘Wildstyle’ with own style and character.
He traveled to Paris in 1992 to visit the studio of Jonone and the ‘Bad Boys Crew’ where he becomes associated with the Hôpital éphémère of urban artists inspired by Jean Micheal Basquiat , Keith Haring , Rammellzee and A-One and enter 156allstarz.
Upon the return of his initiatory trip to Paris, he began to develop his adventure on canvas and paper, being the forerunners urban artists of the peninsula when experimenting with collage, assamblage, drippin, aerosol, matter or different paintings on paper or on canvas, moving toward ‘urban expressionism’.
He met B Pacelona in 1994 to the painter Popay whom he considers a pioneer and a great master of European urban art.
He currently resides in the city of Valencia with Merche in his home-workshop, his works oscillate between paper and collage or digital creation and canvas. He also keeps active his street production where the spectator is surprised by the work in the middle of the city.
Fasim received the ‘Pinzell Cuixart’ award for artistic career in 2015 His works have visited galleries, museums and walls of Bilbao, Barcelona, Seville, Granada, Madrid, Valencia, Porto, Paris, Perpignan, Sarajevo, Milan, Naples, Berlin, London, Belgium, Switzerland & New York.
